Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is instant messaging focused around topics rather than people, and requires no registration. The Wagn channel is #wagn on irc.freenode.net.

Downloadable IRC software is only a little more complicated, and has more features. Some recommendations for different systems:

• Mac — Colloquy
• Windows — Pidgin, X-Chat 2, mIRC
• Linux — Pidgin, kvirc
• Cross-platform (requires Firefox) — Chatzilla
